Building Resilience

Especially for wonderful people who have made Aliyah

A workshop with Dr. Simcha Sheldon

Good advice - you can take home and use

  1. Take good loving care of yourself - physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, social, intimate relations, etc.
  2. Absolutely engage in stress management and stress reduction
  3. Learn to create positive healing mind-body-emotion-spirit states; motivation, creativity, exercise, fun
  4. Create and utilize healthy relationships with yourself and others (love, trust, encouragement, safety, support)
  5. Identify the skills, knowledge, understandings and past experiences that you have which can help you
  6. Identify your strengths and use them. Maintain positive self-image. Self-acknowledgment. Survivor not victim.
  7. Engage in creative problem solving
  8. Identify your weaknesses and take appropriate strengthening actions
  9. Relate to crises as opportunities for successful personal growth
  10. Learn how and when to experience or avoid strong emotions
  11. Accept that change is a part of living and embrace the positive aspects of change
  12. Identify, pursue and engage in positive realistic goals and activities, and take positive, clear, decisive action
  13. Look for opportunities for positive self-discovery and growth
  14. Keep things in perspective
  15. Maintain a hopeful outlook - cognitively, emotionally and spiritually
  16. Engage in activities and relationships that build self-worth, confidence and esteem
  17. Acknowledge and be thankful for the good
  18. Embrace life itself, connect with G-d and positive life energy, and know that at any moment things can be better!

And the Torah and our heritage are filled with sources of strength and resilience - they are part of the workshop.

Feel welcome to email me any questions or issues you would like included in a workshop.
